I have tried using WYSIWYG editors and have disliked all of them. I prefer to use regular text editors and just hack the code out myself. That being said, I think some of the editors are better suited and have some tools to help with web design. I am using Crimson Editor right now, but is there a better one to be using for web page creation and design?

I always admire those who can design site or even program using simply text editor. Simply because those text editor plainly black and white. I can't really differentiate between codes..

So for me:>> Dreamweaver 2004, it's the best Editor for Coding.

Sadly I'm not a designer, I do not know what software to use.

How's crimson editor? Is it something like text editor or textpad?

I guess it just goes back to my early training in programming and such when there was no such thing as wysiwyg. Everything was done in a text editor. I just feel more comfortable there.

I tried using dreamweaver a while back, but it just did not do what I wanted to do in terms of what I expected. For a wysiwyg editor, I would expect it to do exactly as I set it up. If I just had to drag and drop components and have it end up coming out like that in efficient code, it would be great, but my trials did not end up being like that.

I had to massage code to get it to work right, and if I am going to do that, I might as well just start there. Smile

I used to use notepad to type out code. Later, I started to download some text editors that would change to colours of the code, which makes it easier to spot mistakes and such. I find that when I type the code out myself I have more control over how I want things to look. I can also go into the code easily and makes changes.

I have used Dreamweaver a bit. It definitely makes things easier. It's also handy if you know some code - sometimes the program won't do what you want, and you can just go in and make the change.

Oh y do u try to do hard thing like this? whereas Dreamweaver can offer many features related to web development. Although u can't drag n drop some tools like wysiwyg editor but u can insert it via menu.

Before i used to use Editor like notepad too but , lately, i though that it's not easy to remember some tag or scripts. So, i use Dreavweaver instead until now.

For designing, there're many tools to design but most favorit tool that web designer like to use is photoshop.

I always use the latest Dreamweaver. I don't have the patience to code without wysiwyg! when I want to make a functional site I want to do it fast. PLus, it help with deconstructing code which helped me learn most of the basics of html.

It seems you guys really like Dreamweaver, so do I. What point do you like about it? To me, Dreamweaver helps alot of speed, xhtml accuracy and so on. However, I don't like to code JavaScript/ JSP in Dreamweaver since it doesn't help me anything. Any objection?
