Hi guys,
Do you know reason why most ISPs charge for Domain name? Some charges different prices even though the same name. e.g. If I want to subscribe http://www.singachea.net, I have to yearly pay for this domain exclusive to the hosting service. The prices of domain and hosting are nearly the same. However, it differs from ISP to ISP. It surely contradicts to the law of one price since we can communicate at no different cost via internet.

Service is the answer. I have heard story where the domain name can cost you up to 35US$ per year. However, the usual price should range around 10US$ and nothing much more for .COM, .NET or .ORG .
You have to pay two differnt things when you want your site up and running. Firstly is the Domain name. Domain name serves as an address to your webpage. Whereas a hosting site serves as your house (where you store all your document).
The reaon is that because domain name is one service provided by Domain Name Server which does the translation of IP address to your human readable domain name. Secondly, the hosting site or ISP in your context, is another services provided by local ISP or oversea hosting server. They charge you another set of fee because you use their hosting service to host your site.
