Well I use no antivirus software for windows instead I removed IE/outlook,
close a few holes/ports eg 135/137 ,used netbeui rather than netbios for networking, remove uneeded services and active x.
The router provides a firewall though this though direct internet connection was still ok.
Avoid opening suspicious files/dodgy sites/spam links.
Windows can be made a lot safer...I picked up some virus within 30 seconds using a standard windows 2000 install but do not get any once the above changes have been made...runs faster too ...treat the cause and not the symptoms.
Or use linux.
regards
mike

I am currently using AVG anti virus software from grisoft. I think the best way is to run or scan your pc with virus scanner . If your drive is too much affected do some formatting .
