Hello guys,

I was amazed by FaceBook's uploading service where it uses ActiveX embeded inside the website which allows users to select a folder to upload their photos. Amazingly, it is very very fast to upload 1.xxMB of pictures.

Wonder if you know the trick behind it? I wonder if it is possible to use Just PHP to enable users to select one whole folder to upload their photos or even better how to use ActiveX to upload just like facebook. That would be awesome.

I have no idea about it, but I think it's not possible to have php allowing the whole files uploaded since it runs at the server side (server should have no access to client property and vice versa for client). It should be the case that the client side requests uploading repeatedly by itself.

Thanks for responding Chea. It is possible, at least through ActiveX. And I think the working is that the client will post the files (image file) sequentialy and the PHP (serverside) request the file as it get pass to the server. To users, it seems like everything work in a batch i.e. the whole in.

In summary, you are right. The client has to upload repeatedly itself but with activeX (just like vb.net desktop software) which enables users to select the whole folders.

>> I'm working on embbeding the ActiveX right now. Will announce as soon as the site is up Smile
