|

Someone asked me why dont we just build a simple static html website. Why bother to build a dynamic website? Why would learn something so complex i.e. programming language just to build a dynamic website?
I have discuss the difference between static and dynamic website before but I would really like to open this discussion once again for discussion. So what do you think why we use dynamic site for?

Simply and personally, I think it is the need for user to interact. Imagine when you log in to this forum. The server needs to verify user ID and password. If it is correct, then the server will execute and output the needed HTML page. and there are more than this reason. And I conclude that the main reason is static page does not fully satisfy the web user's needs. Thus, complexity will be a price to pay for a dynamic page.

hmmm... I think it all depends on what kind of project you are talking about. For a complex and functional web site, yes, dynamic site is a must but for a simple and nice eye candy appearance kind of website, a static HTML website will just do the job

Personally, i think if we just want a very simple page, we just do in MS word. However, the real world is not so simple like that; I believe on JavaScript to make client side becoming active.

You did quite a good job in JavaScript as shown in your personal site. For me, I was not very sucsessful in JavaScript LoLz.. heheh
MS Word? hmm, I think at least you may have to use Photoshops in order to get some good graphics and position your website. Ms Word is too basic to get a simple yet impressive static site.
I remember my first personal site was a static website and I have combined of three tools: Dreamweaver, Photoshops and Flash shockwave.
