Remote access to music files

Ok wondered if anyone had any insight on this one.

I have an mp3 player which has the mp3 files on a remote server for space reasons...now this works fine in firefox/mozilla and IE (the last time I used it) but when I tried the latest opera it did not .
I added the crossdomain.xml file which did not make any difference but as far as I am aware what I am doing is ok at least for flash 6/7.
Also the same arrangement for a flv player works fine in opera.
Now seems like a bug in opera/flashplayer but they (opera) have been silent on this one but since this could affect visitors using opera I am trying to find out whether I need to make alternative arrangements or to encourage opera to sort out what seems to be a bug.
