Anyone else here that Dell is going to start using AMD CPUs now? Dell was one of Intel's last bastions of pure intel processors and now they are going to be using AMD's as well. I think it was a smart move for Dell, but it may hurt Intel some.

Any thoughts?

I think that's great because I definitely like AMD - it's faster. I think Dell is a good company, except for not being able to upgrade on some of their computers. Switching to AMD will probably be very profitable for them because then they can sell good computers for lower prices.

Hi Julie, Can you give any proof to show that AMD is faster than Intel. I don't know anything about AMD, but I heard that the $100 laptop uses AMD 500MHz and fedora core. What are the differences between AMD and Intel? Both are chips made from the transistors right? chip design?

I don't think that there is much of a difference between the two companies. AMD seems be the one coming out with high power processors though.
