Hello,
Is the following demonstration correct??
-------------------------------------------------
Not Study = Fail
Study = Not Fail
Addition:
Not Study + Study = Fail + Not Fail
Study (Not + 1) = Fail (Not + 1)
(Not + 1) both side cancel each other.
Study = Fail
-------------------------------------------------
What do you think?

I saw this one yesterday...
The easiest explanation is that Not is boolean not numberical, and it will be non-sense to say Not A + A instead of Not A OR A which is the universal set. Therefore, it still satisfies that Study' OR Study is the same as Fail OR Fail'. We can't factor the logical boolean.
If you are convinced to believe that Not is numberical, let's see:
*Suppose Fail = 0, then Study = 0. Hence Study = Fail (satisfied) but it's not correct that study is 0.
*If Fail # 0, then Study # 0 and the equation becomes:
(Not+1)(Study-Fail)=0 then Not + 1 = 0 OR Study - Fail = 0
For Study = Fail, it leads Not = 1 > 0 (unaccepted)
Therefore the last result is that Not = -1 which satisfies the equation Study(Not +1) = (Not+1)Fail no matter what Study and Fail are.
