How secure it is? Does it support the importing feature ? i.e. moving from phpbb to smf, will it be easy?
SMF seems new? no?

I'm not sure how secure it is, but i found that most advanced forums use this smf.
What i do know about it is that the admin panel comprises many features and options than phpBB.
For the skin, i must acknowledge that phpBB is much more clean, but I just don't like the admin management system in phpBB.

SMF is not that new. I have used SMF, PHPBB and Vbulletin. They are all good for different jobs. I think you could convert a customer base to SMF pretty easily.
They just don't have as many users so there are not as many add-ons and plugins for it.

I' like to read news on internet and stuff and heard not so much good news about phpbb. It lacks lots of security features. Indeed I found some website hacks by hackers before using phpbb. It's kinda scary world!
I would go for vBulletin too
