Sorry I keep asking questions Sad - I am new to flash and everytime something comes up am sort of stumped.

So I have been developing this flash file for a friend - its really complex with loads of scenes, pictures, videos, audio clips, and hundreds of library objects. I am almost done here and want to give him the whole package with everything sorted out. I viewed certain other flash documents - they have folders for each scene and it has a folder in it called "assets" which carries the pertaining documents - and it looks very organized. How do I go about doing this? Is there a standard that I should follow? Or can I just create a folder for each scene and just put whatever I want to in the "assets" folder. Will the .fla file automatically figure out where the objects are?

And what happens if I give someone just the .fla file? Will it still have all the images and other library items?

Thanksssssssssssss in advance for the help. I truly appreciate it!

hi david,

You have to import those images and other sound files if you wish to your .fla. Go to file>import (choose either to import to stage or library).

If you give the other guys .fla without importing those necessary files into it, the guy won't be able to see it.

Otherwise arrange as you like and zip the whole lot up together..relative addressing is used like a web page set...don't think there is a standard as such...importing assets will be neater though.

Thanks Guitarman & Mike ! I did import all my images/videos/audio files while I created the .fla. So if I give them this fla file can they actually edit whatever they want to in the future?

If that is the case I dont really see a need to creat an asset folder. May be the other examples I saw had these asset folders from which they dynamically referenced the objects? Or am i missing something here.

One problem with importing those files into the .fla is that the .fla is very large and hence may have problem loading it.

Mike suggesting the dynamically load external page and I think it is one good way to deal with large project as well. You may refer to http://www.cambodiaxp.com/flash-experiment-movie2.html

your last paragraph>> I guess the asset folder is just to make sure the guy opening the .fla has just one place to look for all the files. It is a way of managing the .fla files, i suppose
