What i have known so far is that Evolution and Outlook support Microsoft Exchanges, but why doesn't popular email application like thunderbird support it?

could you explain further what is Microsoft Exchange? What does it do?

To make it easy to understand, ME is something like POP3. NTU uses it as email server. For more info about ME server: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Exchange_Server
