I know people often use articles for content, but if you were able to get an exclusive 400 word article, how much word that be worth to you?
I have a friend who is considering doing some writing, and he does not really know what the marketplace is like, and neither do I, so I am trying to get some feeling for it.

I think it depends on how skill he is. For me, I wouldn't pay more than 3US$ for 400 word article if it's something that I know of and I just feel lazy to do it myself.
Do you think he can do it for 3US$? and original copy? Can PM me

Personally, I guage my article prices according to the amount of research and the saleability of the topic. For instance, if I am doing a 400 word article on a Swedish Chicken named Bob, it's going to be considerably cheaper than, say, a 400 word article on Celiac Disease, that is content rich and keyworded.
If it's an extensive article and you know someone's really done their work, I would say take the time to consider it on an hourly basis. Does this person seem to know their stuff? Do they speak with experience or just off the cuff? If it's a good article, it's rather insulting to only offer $3.00 for it, unless you're sure that it only took them like 15 minutes to research, write, and edit. But in the same breath, it's rather uncalled for, for them to want $50.00 for the same

I think $3 might be less than he wants to make on an article. I think he intends to spent around an hour of time on an article, including research, writing, proof-reading, editing etc.
That seems short to me, but considering some of the prices I have seen, you can't afford to spend 5 hours on an article that someone pays $5.00 for...
Nice advice Anarch, I am going to forward your post on to my friend.

Depends on the amount of words. I always pay 3cents a word! Unless I order like 10 articles, then I want a discount haha! I got 4 people who are writing for me though, when needed! But I tend to write more myself lately!

Now now... don't you tempt me. You may very well see a topic thread started about said Swedish Chicken. He's very popular in Chad, I hear.
Glad to hear I could be of some assistance, Triumph. If he's going to spend an hour on a project, he should get paid for an hour's worth of work.... And $10 is a nice price, Klaas! If you ever need more writers... *wink wink nudge nudge* Hehe just kidding. Good to see that you're writing yourself more, now, too! It's fun, isn't it???

$3 for an article is insulting, but unfortunately that's what many people are only willing to pay. I've seen advertisements that only pay $1. Why would I waste my time for a couple bucks? I might as well volunteer. It just makes no sense to me. Good, experienced writers deserve much more than this. And I think that if someone is only willing to pay $3, that's what they are going to get - a $3 quality article.

Hee.... brother, I used to see a service. Translating Khmer to English charges 6 cents per word. Therefore, 400 words cost $US 24.

Well if the employer still gives the credit to author, a couple bucks are still better than nothing
