How did you all learn web design? Did you learn it on your own? Did you go to school for it? Did someone teach you?
I'm not really that great at it, but I learned on my own. I think it just *looks* a lot harder than it actually is. Well, learning code seems to be almost easier than learning a web design program. Although, I did learn about Illustrator in school, but photoshop and golive I learned on my own.

I learnt through a LOT of trial and error. I had a copy of Dreamweaver and basically took code and broke it down until I understood what was what and learnt that was. I obviously make mistakes so online tutorials have helped a lot too.

I know my friend has done it all by himself and all he does is a little research on the web and put in some creativity and voila a fantastic website is formed. So in a nutshell, you dont have to go to design school to learn design

I say only go to a design school if you want the paper!

It's true that learning how to code is easier than designing. Code or script is already made up with syntax, but designing need to be creative to create something new, unique, and interesting.
For me, first i learned HTML at school then, wow, it make me interested in web development. Then i tried to learn by myself on Photoshop, asp, javascript, or php via online tutorial. So, it's not professional like studying at school.
