I have considered doing it with a forum software and portal, or doing it with a blog, but I am wondering if there is any software out there good for just running a news site. Something to post updates, allow users to e-mail and print stories etc.

Triumph,
I'm sure you can code it yourself by using RSS and the part: "Something to post updates, allow users to e-mail and print stories etc."
It's pretty straight forward to do the printing and sending emails.
So in a nutshell, it has 3 features i.e. RSS, emailing and printing.

Yeah I was just looking for a script that might already be out there and designed to be a news story front end. I will keep looking, or I will just do it myself.
I have done it myself on some other sites, but I just wanted to know if there was something more feature-filled out there to use as a foundation.
As for Singachea's brother's friend's girlfriend: LOL

cutenews????? It's a script which allows you to post news. It's easy to integrate an RSS into and making it go automatic!

Klaas,
Thanks for the tip, I will check it out when I get a chance and report back my findings. It seems to me that the name is familar as I did some research on news scripts when I first got into the web world a while back, but abandoned it for other avenues.
Thanks again.

If you don't want to use cutenews, why not just implent a blogger software?

I use wordpress a lot, but I guess I am looking for something with a bit of a different basic feel. I think I can probably modify and tweak wordpress to meet my vision, but I was just looking for alternatives.
