where do we start from?

hello great experts in this forum.
am currently starting to learn flash.. but am not too sure of where should i start from? should i start by learning from books? or should i start by reading the macromedia website itself?

i have learnt about the usefulness and interactiveness of using flash, and in school, the teachers often encurage us to learn how to create flash.. but where exactly do we start from, to get the most out of what we learn through the fastest and easiest way?
