That is very similar to the US. The traditional times have been 9:00-5:00 but you will see a lot of 8:30 or 8:00 start times, and some 6:00pm finish times.
As places get more congested, and rush hour worse, some businesses trying to change hours up to keep people from spending so much time in their cars. Where I live in the US EVERYONE drives a car.

depends where you work, if you work in a bakery it's different ofcourse!
but most is like starting 9 then at 10 a break then at 12 another brake then at 2 or 3 another break and then at 5 you can go home!

i am in the uk. working hours totally depend on the type of job, but general office working hours are 9 - 5.

Usually its 8 or 9 till 5, average working week is around 40 hours a week but lots of people do 32 I think..

Yes, in the United States, I find that most places work an 8-5 or 9-5 day with 32-40 hours. Few places seem to pay overtime anymore either (usually, if you work over 40 hours, you get paid for you time plus a half.. so if you normally make $10 an hour, you get $15 for any hour over 40 .. or double time on Sundays or holidays).
