Just came across nvu
www.nvu.com
from the mozilla organization......its quite neat already (free of course) and hopefully will develop into something special Smile .

I like dreamweaver but my computor doesn't and sometimes hand coding is the only way.

have fun

oh nice project from mozilla! ( they could however work on their website though )

And I think I'll just keep using dreamweaver for now Smile

re nvu.....

The html editor of it is very good....particularily with css...lots of functionality hidden away in there...I could add layers very easily.

It lacks on the site/folder side but that is relatively new...nvu is based on composer so the actual editor is well developed.

Worth keepng an eye on.

I've downloaded Nvu, but I didn't have a chance to explore it yet. I'm glad that it works well. If you are looking for a decent editor, you could try JEdit. It's free but only a small step up from notepad. It can help by color coding your code and it's better than nothing.

Other free HTML editors:
PSPad.com
Crimsoneditor.com
Notepad ++

What is good at the best one (PSPad) is that you have highlighted (colored) tags, you can see # (figures) HTML lines, and you can use pre-made HTML blocks.

HTML-kit seems to be loaded with features. Can you point out few? Does the program do anything beside HTML editing and validation? I mean anything other than HTML. Did you try it?

I use it all the time Very Happy mainly for php...editing on site and saving locally when finished...nice flexible file manager.

previews can be in ie or gheko (interfaces with the mozilla activex control)

It's simply a very versatile program oozing with features and plenty of addons too ...give it a try..and of course it's free Very Happy

have fun

Love using Dreamweaver 8, best out there in my opinion. Tried out Adobe GoLive CS awhile back and couldn't do anything with it.
