What online forum/board scripts do you like to use and why?
If you could afford it, would you choose a free board script such as phpBB?

I personally feel like getting a vbulletin board. I heard lots of good comment about it. Fast loading speed, easy to configure, easy add on, very secure etc.. The bad point is that it cost $$$.
I see your site's forum using Invision Board. Does it cost anything?

IPB costs:

This will give you a perpetual license to use Invision Power Board for one installation and access to all future versions. One year of support and related services is included. After one year an optional $30 renewal for support and related services is available.
Invision Power Board Yearly License · $69.95
This will give you one year license to use Invision Power Board for one installation on all current and future versions. At the end of one year your board will continue to run but will be unsupported and access to upgrades unavailable unless you renew service.

Don't you think it's too expensive? I better use Joomla/ php-nuke and phpBB/ SMF instead. The future is clear for all these free software

I use SMF. You can get a free hosting with SMF already installed on http://smfforfree.com .
You can also install SMF on your site with Fantastico. SMF 1.1 final version just came out a couple of weeks ago (after extensive testing).
phpBB 3 is still in Beta. There were many hackings done in the past on phpBB based forums...
You can always export your SMF forum in vBulletin though. On vBulletin also mods are mostly a paid option only...

If I have the budget I would choose Vbulletin. It is equipped with various modules which can help in administering your site forum better. These modules include adsense revenue sharing and SEO modules.
