Hi guys,

Let's say a web service provider allows 1.5 GB. What does it mean? Does it mean that we can upload via ftp 1.5 GB monthly or visitors can surf the site 1.5 GB only?

1.5GB would be around 1500MB of Bandwidth.
Imagine that your site only has 1 file namely index.htm which has the size of 1MB. Given 1500MB of Bandwidth a month would mean, visitors could view your site 1500 times (i.e. 1MB * 1500)

In other words, bandwith is the amount of traffic your site receive monthly. In your case, I think the amount you use your ftp is also considered as bandwith usage.

1500MB per month in most case is more than enough for low traffic site.
Low traffic "with" small file size.. For example: you have a 100 MB file and you let your visitors to download this file. In this case, it only takes about 15 visitors to consume all your bandwidth.

To save the usage bandwidth, you should consider using third party hosting site such as flicker for your images hosting.. hahaha I'm using that too Smile

oh ic....

This really means that 1.5 GB is pretty small; too bad. How is about CambodiaXp bandwidth? Unlimited?

If it's unlimited, Cambodiaxp admins should exploit the advantage of mail server. What I mean is that Cambodiaxp can use other free site databases but use own data space.

e.g. http://www.awardspace.com is a free web hosting provider which offers a free databases. Therefore, we can allow users to sign up at Awardspace to get a free database. After that we can install CMS (joomla, mambo, php-nuke, ...) on Cambodiaxp server and use databases from Awardspace.

The good thing about it is that CambodiaXp doesn't have to care about database systems which can lead to running out of resources.

Each php website may take around 10MB, and the feature of CMS is going to be like this http://www.singachea.net

I raise up this point because CMS is really attractive than blog, and blog is available everywhere such as blogspot, wordpress and so on.

After all, I can't do this way on my server since my bandwidth is just 1.5GB only.

my blog at http://www.sokhodom.com is also having 1.5BG bandwith. In fact, this is more than enough for most case. Try to use thirdparty to host your images files, songs, video etc.

In term of CMS, It also does not consume much bandwidth but it definitely consume lots of server resource because it needs to parse lots of complex PHP script.

I really doubt the word "unlimited" . May be it's "unmetter".

Bandwidth is also counted for http/ftp traffic in from and to your site (downloading/uploading)

It means that you are provided the space on server. More files you will upload bandwidth will be decreased. It is like your system hard disk. Space is decreased by placing more files there.
