Defrag is useless but not for the reasons stated.

When you save a file it is saved in parts. Some parts are saved here, some there. Basically what defrag does it puts it all into clumps to make it run smoother. Now that hard drives spin very fast, usually 7200rpm, defrag really isn't needed.

Yes defargment helps you to managing your partition C.When it runs and we command it to defargment then it starts to collect files who has taken the space in C drive for nothing.After all this process You could feel that the speed of your PC made better and your files are located in various kind of places have complied.But i do not depend much upon it.
