This flash tutorial for beginners is about creating a field of static stars in flash MX 2004 i.e. no blinking stars. If you would like to learn how to create a blinking starry night in Flash MX 2004 or Flash 8, go to blinking starry night flash tutorial.
Below is what we are going to create in this static starry night flash tutorial for beginners
Okay, let's get start on our Flash Starry Night Effect tutorial
1- Create a new flash file with 350 pixels by 400 pixels.
2- Choose Linear in your color mixer. If the color mixer is not open yet, open it by pressing Shift + F9.
3- In linear format, you have to select two sets of color by clicking on the small square and input the RGB number. The purpose in this case is to make the sky appears darker on the top and lighter below. In my case, I choose #020934 as the first color and #071b90 as the second color (refer to the above images).
4- Choose a rectangular tool by clicking on
in the tools panel.
5- Draw a rectangular, any rectangular will do.
6- Select the rectangular we have just created and open up the property panels (clicking Ctrl + F3) and set width to be 400 and height to be 350.
7- With the rectangular still selected, on the menu bar, select Modify > Transform > Rotate 90 degree CW (or CCW depend on your original rectangular – our purpose is to make the sky look darker on top and lighter on below).
8- Move the dark night sky (dark blue rectangular) to fit nicely in the main flash stage.
Okay, we have just created a dark night sky without any stars. Next, we are going to create some static stars. In doing so we have to create some small, some big, some very bright and some very dim stars.
9- Add another layer into the Timeline panels. This layer will store some stars. (You may also lock the Layer 1 by clicking on the Key button)
10- Select an oval tool
by pressing O on your keyboard and set color to white.
11- On the layer 2 i.e. the newly created layer, draw one small and one big round white circles on the main dark blue sky. You get something similar to this:
12- It is a nature that there are more than two stars at night. Hence, you have to create more stars. To do so, simply copy and paste the two original stars created earlier.
13- Press Ctrl + Enter and there you go, your static starry night in flash mx 2005 and flash 8 has been completed.
That's it!! You have just learnt how to create a static dark blue sky full of stars. Want to learn advance and cooler effect on star effect? Let’s learn how to create a blinking starry night in flash using Actionscript here.
